"To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one's self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived - this is to have succeeded."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dear Family & Friends,

Once again, I've taken on an amazing opportunity with Team In Training. Earlier this year a friend and I set out to raise $9000 and both run the Mayor's Midnight Marathon in Alaska. We didn't quite reach our $9000 goal, but we did raise an incredible $6000 in just a few short months, which at least allowed one of us to run. We both decided that he would run the marathon. To no surprise, he sucessfully completed his first marathon and returned home forever changed by the experience. Many, Many thanks to those who made it possible for us to get as far as we did!!

This time around, I am determined to give this another go and finally run my first marathon. I haven't quite decided which marathon I will run yet-there are several to choose from. But I've decided to get a head start on fundraising and training. My personal goal is $6000. However, in honor of all those affected by blood related cancers, especially the children, my ultimate wish would be to exceed this goal! With your support, I would love to make this a reality!

About The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a not-for-profit, voluntary health organization whose mission is to cure leukemia and its related cancers-lymphoma, multiple myeloma and Hodgkin's disease- and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The Society provides funding for research, public and professional education, advocacy, patient aid and communtiy service programs.

Leukemia and Related Cancers

It is estimated that leukemia and related cancers struck more than 107,000 Americans last year. Although the cause of these cancers remains unknown, steady advances in research and treatment are bringing us closer to cures. In fact, thanks to research funded in part by The Leukemia Lymphoma Society, the survival rate for the most commom form of childhood leukemia has improved from 4% in 1960 to 80% today.

I am writing to each of you to ask for your support. No Donation is too SMALL or GREAT! At this time if you are unable to contribute financially please keep me and my Team In Training, in your prayers. If you feel compelled, please forward this to anyone you think would like to contribute in some way to this very worthy cause.

Your prayers and donations will help us cross the finish line and eventually find a cure. I thank you in advance for your support.

Respectfully,
Alexandra
